    Parking Aid Malfunction Service Required

Parking Aid is a convenient feature in Ford cars. It helps drivers park safely by providing a sound signal when the car is nearing an obstacle. This is especially useful in vehicles with multiple blind spots.

The sensors collectively detect distances between the car and nearby objects, and the system’s computer interprets this data to determine the necessary steering adjustments. This automated procedure makes driving easier and safer for drivers while also providing them with more choices over where they may park.

In this article, we will tell you the most common issues that might cause it to malfunction, and provide solutions to fix them.

What Does It Mean When Your Car Says Parking Aid Fault:

If you see this error on your dashboard, it indicates that your Ford Focus parking assist technology isn’t working properly. The appearance of this notice suggests problems with the parking detectors, a faulty battery, the gearbox control unit, or control modules that interpret their data.

Causes of Problems Related to Ford’s Parking Aid

Here are some of the most common causes associated with this error:

    1. Wiring Problems

Most parking aid problems in vehicles can be traced back to defective wiring in the sensors that are internal computers, or batteries. The parking aid deactivating warning on the screen or the possibility of the parking aid not operating at all are the key indicators of this problem.

    Wiring Problems

Corrosion is one of the most common reasons for faulty wiring. Moisture exposure may trigger corrosion in wires over time. This can result in a loss of connection and signal strength, leading to the parking aid malfunction.

    2. Dirty Parking Sensors

This can be caused by dirt or snow, but the ultimate result is the same. The parking assist does not function correctly and will give a fault code, indicating that it is time to perform a thorough cleaning

    3. Faulty Transmission Control Unit

Another common cause of park aid malfunction is a faulty transmission control module. This is quite common, especially in Ford Focus and Escape Transit, Kuga, and Ford C-Max vehicles, although it also occurs in other models. Because the TCM is a computer that regulates the gearbox, it might cause problems with the parking aid system if it fails.

    4. Low Battery Power

If your Ford car has a parking aid system, a faulty or low battery may trigger the device to malfunction. This can cause the parking assist system to randomly display a message of failure or alert light on the dashboard or prohibit it from functioning properly. It may also be accompanied by additional symptoms such as poor performance etc.

    5. The Parking Aid Button isn’t Working

If the Parking Aid button doesn’t work properly, the vehicle’s parking aid system may malfunction. The Parking Aid indicator light staying on all the time is a common symptom of this problem, as is the system not functioning at all.

    6. Glitches in the Onboard Computer

In Ford vehicles, typical signs of a parking aid malfunction include the system not working consistently or not working at all. This issue is often attributed to a fault in the onboard computer, specifically the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and can be resolved through a process called reflashing.

    7.  Blown Fuse

One common factor is a blown fuse that may sometimes disturb the electrical system, causing the “Park Aid Fault” warning to show on the dashboard. This is commonly caused by a short circuit, which is easily identified and changed.

How to Fix Parking Aid Malfunction?

Here are some of the common steps that you can take to fix this issue:

    1. Clean The Sensors

One of the most common ways to resolve this issue is to clean the sensors with the help of a cloth. After cleaning the sensor, wipe it with a clean cloth and dry it to make sure that no water enters them.

    2. Removing Water From Sensors

If the sensors are filled with water then you can easily solve this issue. You can drive the water out by spraying the oil-based lubricant on the sensors. After spraying the sensor, wipe it down with a clean cloth.

    3. Reflashing the Computer

Reflashing involves updating a vehicle’s internal computer. It indicates that the operating system will be upgraded with entirely new settings on the many modules that control the car’s principal functions.

    4. Check The Wiring Issue

Moisture exposure may trigger corrosion in wires over time. This can result in a loss of connectivity and signal strength, leading the parking aid to fail to function properly. Inspect the wires for any green-colored or white substance accumulation to check for corrosion. If you see any, remove it with a wire brush, compressed air, or a similar tool. If the pollution is tough to remove, you can also apply a cleaning solution.

    5. Check The Low Battery

If you are unsure that the battery is triggering issues with the parking aid system, have it observed and replaced as soon as possible. Follow the recommended battery replacement schedule to avoid facing battery problems while driving, which might leave you abandoned on the side of the road.

How Do You Reset A Parking Sensor?

You can reset the parking sensor by following the directions that are provided by the car manufacturers. You can also reset the park assist feature by resetting the park assist feature. Another method to reset the parking sensors is by pressing and holding the reset button in the control unit for some time.

    Conclusion

If the Parking Aid fails, it won’t be able to detect objects in the vehicle’s path and won’t provide an audible warning. This has the potential to cause accidents and damage. To ensure that this technology works effectively, get your vehicle maintained regularly or fixed if you notice any signs of problems.
