    Inside the canister’s vapor storage is activated charcoal with multiple pores that absorb and release vapor when the purge valve opens and closes.

    However, charcoal’s porosity is affected by many factors. When operating the car, it crushes charcoal particles to turn them into fine powder. Accidentally spilling liquid fuel or condensed gas vapors into a charcoal canister can also damage its pores.

    Once particles lose the ability to trap gas, they may eventually clog the fuel vapor vent line. Leading to a faulty canister in need of a bypass to avoid charcoal powder hindering engine bay performance.

    Step #1: Locating The EVAP Canister

    Most commonly, an EVAP canister is found near either the engine bay or fuel tank of a vehicle. However, this may vary for every car because of its specific make and model. Therefore, please consult your vehicle’s service manual or online resources to pinpoint its accurate location.

    Step #2: Disconnect The Negative Battery Terminal

    To ensure safety and reduce any electrical mishaps, disconnecting the negative terminal of your vehicle’s battery is an essential step to eliminating electrical sparks during this process.

    Step 3: Locate The Canister’s Input and Output Lines

    An EVAP canister consists of two main lines: an output line leading back to the engine intake manifold and an input line connecting to the fuel tank. So, before going further, identifying both these lines is crucial.

    Step #4: Disconnect The Input Line

    While working, be careful as there may be residual pressure or fuel in the line; take caution and use pliers or wrenches to disconnect and loosen its connection from the EVAP canister carefully. Make sure to have a proper container ready in case any spilled fuel escapes the line.

    Step #5: Disconnect the Output Line 

    Once again, using an appropriate tool, disconnect the output line from the EVAP canister. And remember, residual fuel or vapors might escape during disconnection – similarly to the process of disconnecting the input line, be cautious.

    Step #6: Install A Bypass Line

    In order to bypass the EVAP canister, a bypass line must be connected directly from your fuel tank to the engine intake. Measure and cut an appropriate length of fuel-rated hose so it bridges this distance between points A and B.

    Step #7: Connect Your Bypass Line

    To connect the bypass line, connect the first line to the fuel tank’s input line and the second one to the engine intake. Also, use hose clamps to ensure these connections are secured tightly and don’t have any leaks.

    Step #8: Secure Loose Connections

    Preventing fuel or vapor leaks might prove crucial to both you and the environment; make sure to thoroughly check all connections – ensure they are tightened securely enough.   

    Step #9: Reconnect The Negative Battery Terminal
